About Our Organization
For over fifty years the WEPR PTA has worked to carry out the National PTA objectives in the Westchester and East Putnam regions. We believe that strong, vital public education is one of the outstanding traditions of our nation and that excellence in public education relies on consistent, meaningful collaboration between school and home and the active involvement of well-informed parents and community members. | Focus on Fathers Forum*** FATHERS *** DON'T MISS THIS FORUM!
The Westchester East-Putnam Region PTA's Focus on Fathers Forum.
Saturday June 1st 2013 8:30am - 12:30pm Yonkers Middle High School 150 Rockland Ave. Yonkers
The Forum is an effort to inspire Male engagement in our schools, and more importantly for men to become an active influence of our children. PTA, the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America, is an established way for men to be involved. Research shows that the male role model is a critical and essential ingredient in the learning process. However, males have not been involved to the degree that they should have nor to the degree that women have been involved in the education of their children. Speakers include Eric Snow, Executive Director of WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), a father-engagement and educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering. In June 2012 Eric was appointed to a two year term on the Board of Directors for National PTA. | |
